Jake is a full blooded boxer that needs to find a new forever family. Jake was born in April 2009 (16 months) and has been a wonderful addition to our family. He is very goofy at times and loves to chew on toys. He also loves running around the yard and going to the beach. He is a large boxer weighing about 80 lbs. He is neutered and current on all his vaccinations. He is a full blooded boxer but does not have papers. He is in a house with other dogs and cats and small children and gets along with them all. He typically is very friendly and playful but recently he has bitten two people both were strangers. Due to unfortunate circumstances, we need to find him a new home ASAP. We would love for him to go to a loving home who has the time to have him trained to not bite and to learn good manners. We love him very much and are very sad to have to get him a new place to live. He is used to staying inside alot but also needs a big yard to run and play.
Please let me know if you can help find Jake a new family. If so, please contact Mary at at 503-349-8724.

PENNY
Penny 4 years old Doberman 95 lbs Penny is a sweet loving dog but has had some issues around strange children. She's great with my kids and other dogs mine and strangers as well. But she has gotten testy around friends kids and nipped one which is why I can no longer keep her. She would do best in a home with older children. But she really is a good dog and is not viscous. It breaks my heart to have to give her up. But she would make somebody a great pet. Pease feel free to contact me with any questions about adopting Penny. She is up to date on all shots and is micro chipped. Jason Sixthgear@tds.net 503 621 8145
ISABELA
Name: Isabela Female/spayed Age: 10 months Breed: Black lab mix (not sure what she's mixed with) Weight: approx. 35 lbs Isa (pronounced eesa) is a wonderful family dog who has been through puppy training, is great around other dogs, and is amazing with toddlers and kids. We can no longer keep her because we are now gone up to 10 hours a day, and she isn't getting the attention she deserves. She is pretty mellow for a puppy, and simply wants to be around people. We crate trained her while we were potty training her, and she will sleep in a crate at night without a problem. Ideally, Isa would be with someone who is home more than a few hours in the evening and could walk her a little bit every day. She would mix very well with a family that has children, since that is what she's used to now. Isa will probably never exceed 40 or 50 lbs so she's very easy to manage. She's a sweetheart who just needs more love than we can give her right now. I can be contacted directly at serna@ohsu.edu
MARLEY
Marley is a 54 lb female australian shepherd/pit bull mix. She is an absolute sweetheart and loves nothing more than to nuzzle against you and have her back legs scratched. She is about two and a half years old (born in December ‘07) and LOVES to run. Chase is her favorite game, especially when she is the one being chased. Marley is a little unsure of strangers and needs to be gently introduced to new people that come to the house. Tasty treats are a big help when it comes to the introductions. She’d do best in a home without young children. Want to see Marley do some crazy jumps and twists in the air? Take out the garden hose and turn the nozzle to ‘jet’ setting and Marley will entertain herself to no end by jumping and biting at the stream of water. If you go to the lake or river, she’ll run in the water and spin in circles trying to scoop up the water with her mouth. She’s good at swimming after sticks but tends to find more interesting things on the beach. You have to find just the right stick and she’ll be up for a game of fetch. Marley is completely up to date on all shots/vaccines, is spayed and microchipped. She’s housebroken and knows basic obedience like sit, stay, and down and also knows shake and roll-over. She’s crate trained and actually likes hanging out in her crate even when you’re home. We’ll send her off with her crate, food/water dishes, toys, beds, leash/collar/gentle leader and heartworm meds. It breaks our heart to put her up for adoption but our life is proving to be too stressful for her with the amount of new people she meets. If you’d like to meet Marley, give us a call or shoot us an email. We’d love to introduce you and help her find a wonderful home. Sarah (shmaclean@gmail.com, 503-922-9328)
MAX
Name: Max
Sex: Male (neutered)
Age: 4 years
Breed: Chocolate Lab/Bordie Collie Mix
Weight: 65
Max is a wonderful family pet. He is well trained and is a great running partner. He looks like a little rottweiler. He has beautiful markings and is very mild. We are sad to have to put him up for adoption. He is an inside dog and loves to sit by your feet. So many good things to say about this dog. For more information contact me at joelleschnell@yahoo.com
CHANCE
From the amazing noises he makes, you might wonder if Chance is part dog, part sea lion, or maybe part wookie? But one thing is clear–he is a very solid 85 pounds of pure pitbull love! Rescued from death row at a local animal shelter, Chance was misunderstood and deemed unadoptable. IDA got him out of there and gave him a chance to prove those people wrong. He has. Chance quickly found his way into the hearts of everyone here at IDA with his sweet demenor and well-mannered ways. He is a four or five year-old neutered male pitbull mix, housebroken, he walks well with a Haltie lead, and has his basic manners down. With his smarts, it would not be hard to teach him new skills. He gets along great with people and has lived communally with other canines, although introductions to new dogs needs to be done carefully. Chance needs a loving guardian with some basic background in living with powerful breed dogs. You can come and meet him at his current digs at the IDA Portland office. For more information or to set up a meeting email or call Matt at matt@idausa.org or 503-249-9996.
FINN
Finn is a 9-month-old yellow lab with an abundance of energy. He loves to socialize with other dogs as well as humans. He looks big for his age, so you would expect him to be more mature, but he is still very much a puppy. We believe that he would do well with someone who has a lot of time to spend training and tiring Finn out – or with other very energetic dogs. Finn is not at all malicious. He is very sweet. But like most labs his age, he is still very mouthy and sometimes does not know his own strength
Finn is up to date on all of his vaccinations. He has been neutered and is quite healthy. He comes with a crate, food dishes, leash/collar, toys, brush/toothbrush and I’m sure some odds and ends we forgot.
We are sad to part with Finny, but feel this is best for him as well as for our family. We have a newborn and my husband has been traveling for work much more than we had expected. I just don’t have what it takes to keep up with him.
Please contact me if you would like to meet Finn. Casey Loomis 503 333 4487
ANGUS
Angus is a 2 1/2 year old male pitbull mix. He’s fixed and family friendly but as a large boy he would do best with older children. He loves other dogs but is timid at first with people. He comes back into rescue as part of the current economic problems so many people face. His previous family adored him although he was only with them for a few months. He is a sweet loving boy who wants nothing more than to find someone to love and to be loved.
His previous owner wrote:
“I know a lot of things like how to say please, how to sit, stay, get on my blanket, get in my bed, lay down, have good recall and how to be gentle. I’m completely trained to go potty outside! I’m good with other dogs and cats. I’m also very well behaved while left alone in the house. I don’t chew up anything. I walk very well on my gentle leader and would love to have a fenced yard to explore and play in. “
This is one very special boy and he deserves a second chance at finding the perfect home. Will you be that special person? Contact Cheryl at 503-625-0812 for more information.
DIGNAN
URGENT!!! Dignan (male, lab/pit mix) & Koshen (pronounced "caution", female, cattle dog/pit mix) are two 11-year old dogs in need of a forever home. Their owners recently found out their 2-year old son is severely allergic and can't be in the house with animals. They have been together their entire lives and would love to stay together. Dignan & Koshen do fine with other dogs & cats. They are neutered & spayed, housetrained, up to date on vaccines, have had routine wellness vet visits & had recent healthy exams, heartworm negative and on heartworm & flea prevention. Koshen needs to take daily thyroid medication (which is inexpensive & she takes it easily) and is slightly arthritic, but that doesn't slow her down. Dignan loves to sun himself while Koshen loves to play with (and in) the water. They both still enjoy daily long walks and lots of belly rubs. Dignan can bark "I love you" and Koshen catches treats off her nose. They don't jump up on people and are very well trained. If you are interested in adopting Koshen please contact: Tricia.Rhodes@am.jll.com

MR CHOMPERS
Hello, my name is Mr. Chompers! I’m a very special guy who needs a very special home.
I had a very difficult upbringing that I struggle each day to overcome. My current family adopted me about 3 years ago when I was 7 years old. Before living with my current family, I was not taken care of properly, was 30 lbs underweight, and became rather distrustful of people. Over the last 3 years I’ve made some good progress in being able to bond with my humans and I love, love, love my pack leader. He’s the best! I need humans in my life who are kind and patient, but also who speak to me firmly and with a commanding voice so that I can be sure of where I stand in my pack. I’m not a big fan of soft cooing, crying, or loud noises – though I do enjoy being sung to! I need to live in a house with no young children, but I’m great with adults, cats & dogs.
I’m a growler! I growl when I’m uncomfortable in a situation, scared, or sometimes I growl when I’m sleeping or for seemingly no reason at all. When I growl I’m telling everyone that I need to be left alone – and I go immediately to my safe place (my comfy dog bed) in a room to readjust my attitude. Usually I’m apologetically wagging my tail and asking to rejoin everyone after a few moments of reflection.
I also have many good qualities! I rarely bark, I’m super loyal, and I with always be on point to guard my loved ones and my house! I’ve lived with dogs and cats and I get along with both just fine (I like to sniff and hang around the dogs and I’m very respectful of cats – one cat even kind of bullies me from time to time if you can imagine!). I respond well to treats, I love bones and vegetables (yum!). I’m willing to sit for anything, and I take treats very gently.
When I want some pets, I can be very endearing! I like to give big puppy eyes for pets and will roll on my back for belly pets. I walk well on a leash and I love walks, exploring, and riding in cars. I never get on furniture or jump on visitors. I don’t dig, but I will occasionally steal a cucumber from your garden!
My current family is getting a new baby and I know I can’t live with babies or young children. I know I’m an older guy, but I’m very healthy and spry and I can make a wonderful companion for a special individual or family! If you think you could be my new family, please, please let my family know! They will be happy to give you much more information, answer any questions, and set up a time for you to meet me! Everyone deserves a second chance. Thank you!

HURRI
Hurricane, or “Hurri” as we call him, is a neutered Standard American Eskimo Dog. He is 9 years old, a joyful, high energy little dog of about 28 lbs, who has lots of life left and love to give. Hurri has slept with my son since my son was 5 years old. He knows the command “go night night with your little boy” even though the “little boy” is now a not-so-little 14 year old. Hurri is good with cats, other non-dominant dogs, and well mannered children. He will keep the garden free of rabbits. He is crate trained, knows a few tricks, housetrained, and needs to brush up on leash walking. He must be an indoor dog with a large fenced yard. He is best suited to a home where someone is home the better part of the day as he may bark if left alone for long periods. He comes with his crate, a health exam and UTD on shots.
Hurri and our other neutered male dog have been fighting for three years now. We have not been able to train them out of it, and have kept them separated. Unfortunately in the past month the gate has twice gotten left open. As Hurri is the smaller of the two dogs he gets the brunt of the damage in a fight. The other dog is a more intense dog and I feel Hurri will rehome easier. Hurri is a good little dog who gets along well with all three of my other spayed dogs, and deserves to be in a home where he isn’t afraid of being attacked. It will be heartbreaking to have him leave, but we need to do the right thing by Hurri. Hurri is located in Southern Oregon. A vet reference is required and a rehoming fee. If you are interested please email: trousso@me.com .
SCOUT
This is hard to do, giving up a pet is something I really am struggling with. We love Scout, he's a great little (14 lbs) mutt part chihuahua, part unknown. He's larger then most chihuahua's and looks like a little lab puppy. Sadly, he just needs more then we can give him. We are financially, and emotionally not in the right place to care for him. We have had him for 5+ years. We adopted him from a no-kill shelter in california, we were told he was young (under 1), potty trained, and well mannered, but that he hates dogs. Within a month he had his first seizure. He has been on epilepsy medication since then, and he will need it the rest of his life. He is anywhere from 6-10 years old. When we adopted him they thought he was about 1, but he has had horrible teeth and they really cannot tell. He is starting to go grey though, but he's still very cute. He is potty trained, but due to the medication he is always thirsty, so if you leave water out there will be accidents because he will drink until he throws up, and then he can not control his bladder. We've solved this by simply giving him water with breakfast and dinner, once in a while an ice cube on hot days. He would be best if he had a doggy door so he could let himself in and out, but it is something we just want someone aware of. He is well mannered and loves people. He hates dogs, but over time will come to tolerate them if they are together for a prolonged time. I would not suggest that he be left alone with other pets though. He has all his current vaccinations, and has pet insurance that helps with taking care of him. He is microchipped. We love him, but its just too much right now. This year has not been good to us, like many others in the world, it is slowly getting better but first we need to move and get a little more stable financially. If you would like to meet him, or want pictures of him please let us know. We are going to try to find him a good home for the next week or two, but are considering giving him directly to a no-kill shelter so that we know he is in good hands.

JAKE
Our family sadly needs to find a new home for our beloved dog, Jake. He is a mixed breed (australian shepard/setter mix) He is totally loving and a great companion, however he was raised in the country and is not doing well in the city. An ideal placement would be in a home with a loving family that likes kisses and a happy dog to come home to each day. He loves to walk, run and is great off the leash out in the woods for long walks. He does best when not around cats. He is 7 years old and weights approximately 40 lbs. If interested please call Heather at 503-954-3779.
MAGGIE
Maggie is a two year old German Shepard, Border/Collie mix. I have had her since she was a pup. She is spayed and has her shots up to date. She knows the following tricks: sit, lay down, stay, shake, roll over, and speak. She LOVES people, and is good with other dogs and kids (I have a six year old). She is a high energy dog. She needs to run for a few hours a day or else she will run around the house like a mad woman. I’ve been taking her to the dog park each day and she’s great with playing fetch, swimming, or running around with other dogs. Unfortunately, a divorce left me in a place that is unsuitable for Mag. We have no yard and I’m working a lot more so it’s hard to keep up with her. I don’t want to give her up unless I can finds her a place with loving owners that have a big yard and time for the park. I just want my girl to be happy.
Maggie’s quirks: She’s not the best on the leash…she gets whiny in the car…and her German Shepard side shows when dogs or cats pass by the window (lots of barking!). Like I said, Mag loves people and will be a cuddling, fun, and loyal pet.
If interested in meeting Maggie, email me at jillnpo_moody@yahoo.com
LADYBUG
Ladybug is looking for love, and alot of it! We, (the vet and I) believe she is a beagle/cocker cross, she yodels and woo-woo’s when she greets new people and spins in circles with excitement when her people come home at last. She is estimated to be around 6 years old, and weighs 19lbs, she is spayed, very fit, healthy and current on her shots and healthcare. Loves to snuggle in bed, will play fetch for hours on end, and thinks humans are the absolute best invention since the ball thrower! Gets along well with cats, adores kids, but wants to be a one dog family. Although she gets along with our Walker hound/springer mix, she is snappish to other dogs when they get in her space and is more likely to start a tussle than play with them, not, “I’m all teeth I’m going to eat you”, more, “I am bigger, hear me roar first” which could get her into trouble if she ever found a dog that didn’t run from her challenge!
We need to rehome her, as we both work full time, and she has separation anxiety, that we’ve tried medicating to no avail, she really needs a friend who is home with her most of the day, a retiree would be the best. She is not destructive when left alone, but she will pee on the floor. We put her in an outdoor kennel during the day where she cries for her humans, not to the point that the neighbors will call and complain, she’s not barky about it, just cries and whines. Ladybug came to us for this reason, due to her apartment dwelling owner not being able to deal with it any longer, and we have had her 4 years. It hasn’t been easy, the decision to rehome her, as we love and adore her spunky spirit, but we want her to be happiest, and that isn’t pining away waiting for us to come home every day.
Ladybug is very well trained, walks on a leash and loves to go walking, and fetching, she’ll come running and sit in front of you calmly to wait for her leash to be put on, she sits, stays, and moves over in the bed when you tell her too. Easy to bathe and she doesn’t require alot of grooming, she’s not a shedder and doesn’t get mats easily. She also will stay close to you when off leash, and when you call her, she’ll come running, so her Beagle nose is obviously not in control of her. She travels very well either in her crate, or loose in the car, we travel alot, camping in our RV, so she is well used to it.
Email or call us at 971-998-8589 to come meet Ladybug, or if you have any questions.
NOVA
Nova is a lab/Shepherd mix. She is 60 lbs. 18 months old, house trained, knows basic commands, crate trained (and can stay in it up to 6 hours, does not do it often but will stand it that long), does good on leash (with gentle leader), is in good health, up to date on shots, and has been through three dog training classes. She is a very loving dog to her people and will protect you and your home. She needs more than we can offer. I run her every day for 3-8 miles but don't have much more time to exercise her. The vet said that a dog like her needs hours of exercise a day; she will need more behavior training and would make a great agility dog. She cannot go to a house with kids, maybe with training she will come to like them. She has a strong drove to hunt, she has killed rats, squirrels, opossums, mice (She thinks it is her job). We trained her not to kill or ducks and chickens but do not trust her around them because if they run she will chase them. She loves our cat and all other cats and wants to play with them she loves our other dog a 10 lb. poodle and they love to play with one another. She does not love large dogs chasing her, she yelps like she is being murdered and flails her mouth around biting, she has bitten other dogs not to the point of bleeding but I have seen hair flying off. It more of a fear defense thing rather that aggression, she has anxiety around other dogs and has always acted submissive. It is very hard to figure out because my friend brought over a 100 lb. lab the other weekend and she was fine she loved him, he was not very interested in her and that might have helped. I don't have the energy to try to figure this out. We did go to the dog park 4-5 times a week, but sense the winter has lifted we have stopped going, I don't have the patience. She loves other dogs but only on her terms. The ideal home would have lots of land and would allow her to run free for hours out of the day, casing small animals and playing with her people. One of our trainers said she would be perfect for agility training. If you don't have lots of land but are willing to exercise her daily and do training then you will be happy. If you think you might be the right fit for Nova, email me at brooke.michelson@pcc.edu with your number and we can talk more and arrange a visit. I can include her crate and blanket, gentle leader, leash, bowl, some food. Adoption fee 100$
SAWYER
Male/Neutered 2 1/2 years old Lab mix 70 lbs Current on all vaccinations Social with children and dogs/animals Rehoming due to medical emergency in familySawyer and Jackson are brothers who love each other deeply and could be placed in a home together or might also enjoy alone time by being placed separately. They love children and currently live with an 8 year old and a 5 year old. They are friendly with other dogs - all sizes - and even cats. Sawyer (brown) is a lover. He cuddles (too closely) on the bed and is always by your side. He does have food allergies, which simply means he is fed wheat free/corn free dog food. He also has those sensitive "lab" ears and we watch him closely if it is windy or rainy (Oregon!). Both dogs have gone through basic training. They walk good on a leash with a leader/halty. They are city dogs and have a fenced yard, are house trained and crate trained. They visit 'family' in the country and are used to open areas and livestock. A member of the family is undergoing extensive cancer treatment and with 2 kids, work and health issues, the dogs have not received the love and care they deserve. Please contact Sheila at gns.wagnon@verizon.net![]()

HAILEY JO
Hailey Jo is a 6 year old Siberian Husky/Lab mix. She has been a blessing to our family since she was a pup, but she has come with her share of challenges. She can be aggressive to strangers, mostly territorial it seems, and she is aggressive when meeting new dogs as well. We like to say she has her "list" of people she loves. Problem is we added a new person to our list of people we love last July. The transition has gone well up until now. So, we are faced with a difficult decision. We are hoping and praying that the right person and home will reveal itself to us somehow. Hailey is not an appropriate dog to have around children. She will need someone who is able to work with her during this transition in her life. We truly believe she can be a faithful and true friend, just as she has been to us, for the right person willing to help. Hailey is spayed and up to date on her shots. Please contact us if you feel you are that right person. Jocelyn @ 541-453-4300. Email: lanny@peak.org.
KEMPER
Kemper is a goofy, intelligent, and gorgeous white German shepherd dog.
Kemper is 3 years old, very healthy, and about 55 pounds. He is on the smaller side but very well put together and active.Kemper is altered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and flea control, fed a raw diet (and has to be on a high quality kibble if you are going to switch him), and knows many commands. He has very little prey drive towards cats or other small animals and is alert to what goes on inside and outside of the home. He is also a fantastic companion, mostly a one person dog, and he bonds tightly to his person. He is good with kids but as with any pet, should not be left unsupervised with younger ones. He would be a great family dog and is very tolerant of handling. Kemper knows 28 commands and could learn more. He is a very smart dog and easily trained.
Kemper does not get on furniture, counter surf, does not have separation anxiety, is not destructive, leaves your stuff alone, doesn’t get into the garbage or roll on things, is good with cats, bunnies and birds and most other dogs, and loves getting belly scritches. He is a good cuddler and plays gently most of the time. Kemper walks pretty well on leash but could always use some reinforcement for heeling. He is perfectly housebroken as well.
The biggest thing that Kemper needs is stability and an understanding of his few issues. He has a mild pancreatic disorder called EPI which is common in GSD’s and rough collies. Fortunately, Kemper’s condition is very mild and has calmed down since he hit maturity. He no longer requires the extra enzymes that severe EPI dogs need, but he does have a very high metabolism and as a result, he eats more than a dog his size normally would. His EPI also has him constantly hungry; this makes him easy to train but it causes him to have food possession issues. For this reason, he should be fed in his crate. He should not be touched or messed with while eating and you should make him work for his food by going through his commands first and waiting until he is calm to release him. If he is going to be switched off of his raw diet, he must be switched to Orijen, Acana, GO!, or NOW!. He does not do well with most kibble so this is pretty important.
Kemper plays well with other dogs but does not get along well with unaltered males. He has an outgoing personality and can kind of be an instigator but he doesn’t start fights and is good about ignoring dogs who do try to start fights with him. He has a big bark but is also a very vocal “talker” with all sorts of groans, sighs, moans, grunts, whines, yaps and “awoooowooowowo’s”. He will alert you when people are approaching the house but will be quiet once you ask him to. He doesn’t bark out of boredom. When Kemper is out with you and off leash, he sticks close and checks back often. He doesn’t run away from you and is very good about coming to a general “Kemper, c’mere!”.
I simply cannot afford to care for him any more, and though I love him a lot, I want what is best for him and that is stability.
Please let me know if you would like to have this loyal, goofy, active, handsome and loving dog in your life. He will come with all of his supplies (and he is very spoiled). I would like a contract in return for you to commit to keep him as long as possible and to return him to me if you can no longer have him for any reason, keep him on a raw diet primarily (I will teach you all about this), and if kibble is in his diet, it must be high quality (I can again teach you all about this), and that he not be allowed unattended with food around other animals or kids because of his food possession. We can work out the contract together and I would like to stay in contact with you. I would also like to offer support with him when you need it including petsitting and training.
He will come with a nice big bed, proof of vaccinations, clicker and treats, a crate, food dishes, the rest of his food and supplements, all sorts of toys, hiking gear (a backpack!), leashes, collars, his coat, brushes, shampoo, and any other stuff that I have for him.
I am asking that an adoption donation of $150 be made to a local rescue upon adoption but this is negotiable to the right home.

Madeleine Age 3 50-55 lbs American Pit Bull Terrier Hi, my name is Madeleine. I am a fun loving girl and a sweet mellow cuddle bug all wrapped in one package. My owner has loved me since I was 7 weeks old and has trained me well in basic obedience, manners, some agility and we've been working toward a canine good citizen. Everyone that comes to my house tells me I surprise them because they didn't think pit bulls were such good dogs. I prove them wrong. I am great around kids- even if they pull my tail or stick their hand in my mouth, or take my food. I am happiest playing with other dogs and spent the first two years of my life with my best friends a Lab and a Rottweiler. My owner Heidi started grad school two years ago and had to send me to live with my cousin Mason who is a Bull terrier. She brought me back because she missed me but now realizes that she can't continue to devote enough time to me (two more years of school) and has to give me up to a family who can afford the time of being my owner. I don't require much, a warm place to sleep (preferably with you on your couch or in your lap or with your dog) I have been crate trained from the beginning but I also do just fine in the house by myself if there isn't any food left out on the counter. The trainers I have met say it's good that I am extremely food motivated because if someone wants to work with me on learning new tricks I will really enjoy it. Last year I learned to run on the treadmill and to swim!! I like the dog park but I tend to get picked on. I also am very patient about bathing, brushing teeth, clipping nails, and all of the other glamour requirements to being the beauty that I amIf you would like to meet me and think you can love me as a responsible and committed pet owner please contact my owner Heidi (heidi.bruner@gmail.com or 801-884-3843). We will be sad to part but I will quickly transfer my full love and devotion to you and your family. Come and see me and you will undoubtedly be taken with my charm and affection, I just know it! Looking forward to meeting you. ~Madeleine
