Meet Poppy- she is a 4.5 year old, 50 pound, boxer- pit- mutt mix. She is a loving, loyal, people pleasing dog. If it were up to her, she would spend 95% of her time cuddling on the couch. She also likes neighborhood walks, running after balls, chewing sticks and bones and sun bathing. She is pretty low energy for a bigger dog. She had a rough start to life before we rescued her at 6 months old and is a sensitive creature. Subsequently, she has some noise sensitivity and fear behaviors including initial nervousness when meeting strangers and is particular about which doggies are her friends (over excited dogs irritate her). Once she warms up though, she will be by your side through thick and thin.
As much as it breaks our hearts, we are looking for a new home for her. With a toddler and new baby on the way, Poppy does not get the attention she needs. She also has shown that small children are too stressful for her to live with. We worry that her limits will get pushed when our family expands again. She would do great in a child free home on her own or with dogs or cats that are also low energy. She doesn't live with a cat but loves the neighborhood cat who comes over often. She really is the most loving dog, if you are looking for your winter heating blanket, look no further!
Poppy is potty trained, crate trained (she loves her safe space in her crate), spayed, vaccinated, and chipped. She takes daily medication for anxiety but is otherwise a healthy pup. Please contact us with any questions you may have about her: Katherine.firstname.lastname@example.org or 925-708-6533
