Male
80 pounds

They say that things grow even better with time, and if you give me the time, patience and guidance I need to boost my confidence you will see that Time truly can make most all situations better. We live in a “throw away” society, people like the convenience of getting “new” rather than repairing the re-useable. I am better than just being discarded, right? I will show all the love, care and loyalty for my forever family than they could possibly ever need… I just need that time. I will do best in a family with children 12+, because I want people to be respectful of me, and little children are still just learning that skill. Other dogs are fine by me, I even really like to play sometimes! I am crate trained already, and I also seem to be pretty well house trained- I prefer to do my “business” while out on walks. I have been granted the chance to find a forever love and I am hopeful, I feel that time may finally be on my side.

4 years old-80lbs. My adoption fee is $180 and includes; microchip, neuter, reduced cost Training Class, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & Treat packet.

Just like the goddess of wisdom, courage and inspiration I too can grant you many wonderful things.. You could be blessed with my sweet, gentle and affectionate beauty! I may shout my message of love and inspiration from time to time- As a goddess I demand respect, if I don’t believe you are giving it to me I will let you know! So I will appreciate finding a home with children 5+. I have love in my heart for all creatures, so let it be known that I can reside with other canines and felines. I also have been taught the art of crate training since arriving here and I am doing great at keeping my temple clean. A true goddess knows to listen to her followers and being that I am still young I will appreciate the advice and guidance of my new family to help make me a great ruler of Mt. Olympus. Come bear witness to my message and realize that I will complete your life with forever love!

Hey!! Fast Eddie likes rock n’ roll and forever love! How do you like to party? Cuz I like to get down Charlie Brown! Being only 7 months old I have a lot party time in me! But I know we can’t party ALL the time… you got to take time out to just relax and recoup, ya know? But seriously, I like to party with just about everyone- so kids 5+ that can hang, and kitty cats that don’t start a bunch of drama are fine by me. Of course I get along great with all the other dogs here, and everyone thinks I am the life of the party! They have been teaching me crate training, which is rad cuz once things start to wind down I like to have a place to crash! So if you got the time, energy, patience, and devotion maybe you can party like a rock star with me, Fast Eddie!!

Tell me about it! It is a complete mystery to me how I ended up in “the system”. There I was, doing my puppy thing being adorable and all that jazz, then “Wham!” and I’m in a shelter. So here I am, looking to find someone to give me a place to call home. That sure sounds like a Fluke to me! Wait that’s my name! Well isn’t that ironic, don’t you think? Not that I am taking this opportunity for granted! Oh no! Everyone has been really nice, and I am having So Much Fun running and playing with the other dogs all day… and the folks here tell me that I will surely find a loving family that will take great care of me for, well… forever! That sounds swell to me! I am still a puppy and will need plenty of training and attention. See I can be a little mouthy when I play. I just get super excited and forget not everyone plays like us dogs do. So sturdy children, who can handle my over-exuberant love will be the best fit for me. Oh and we best say no cats! I don’t know what it is about those things but they are always trying to get me in trouble when no one is looking, they make me look like I am the bad guy! Just like those Siamese in Lady and the Tramp! I’ve been learning this really awesome crate training think, and if continued after my adoption I think I know I can become a Crate Master…I am so close already! In fact, I know that I could become the master of just about anything…I am so dang smart! So you are looking for a ripping young dude to light up your life and I am looking for a forever loving family to make me the best possible dog I can be? There is no way this coincidence can be a Fluke!

Enter the Kirby Derby! The race starts here @ Family Dogs – 11AM sharp. The first loving person to meet me, fall in love, make a careful decision and a lifetime commitment to take me home makes it to the finish line. So start your engines! I’m an awesome prize, Seriously…not to toot my own horn or anything…BUT! I’m crate trained, good with gentle children, great with other dogs, I’m laid back and mellow, have awesome manners, I know a couple basic commands, walk pretty well on a leash…heck, I even get along with cats!
Watch out! I got my Raya-Gun pointed at you and it is set for LOVE. I’m a one year old beauty looking to take aim on your heart! They say the one is the loneliest number…but don’t they know that the name Raya means “Friend to All” ? Besides, why would I be lonely when I got all these other doggies to play with? All these people wanting to meet me and take me home! Heck, I don’t think I could be lonely if I wanted to… and believe me I don’t! I love playing with other dogs! I love playing with children! And I loooooove playing with cats! The cats don’t like it so much though, so maybe a home without cats would be better for me. Shoot they are even doing this crate training for me here, and I am right next to all my buddies, so even that doesn’t get lonely! Just because you are one I don’t think you should have to be lonely…Just look at me! Walking proof on four legs. Maybe you should get down here and I can share all my non-loneliness with you!

Pretty Ginger Bear, a heart of gold and locks of auburn hair. I’m just a girl in search of love. A family of my own and a place that I can call home. Is that asking too much? I am a sweet and loyal girl, I sure deserve it. I am already crate trained, housebroken and I know a bit of obedience but there are a few more things I could learn….like how to trust new people. I do well with other dogs, I hang out all day in my playgroup with lots of other dogs and mostly I just keep to myself but I gotta tell you, I really don’t want to share my home with cats. I do have a very sweet personality, anxious to trust and eager to please. I am soft hearted and it easy to hurt my feelings though…I’ve had a rough go of it… found as a stray, bounced from one place to the next and to top it all off I’ve got a bad back. Now don’t you worry, it doesn’t slow me down or cause me any pain…it’s a condition called Spondylosis and lots of people have it…it’s just kind of a big word, that doesn’t really mean much to me. I still like to run & play, love a good walk and cuddling is A-Ok in my book! I am however pretty sensitive about people touching my hind-end as a result. I just need to find a patient family, even one with children 10+, that is loving and gentle- that shouldn’t be too hard to find, right?

Dude, I’m Tony. Got a tennis ball? Well go get one man, I wanna play! See, it’s not easy having a heart as big as mine… It gets tiring lugging this thing around all day…so I’ve got to keep this ol’ bod in tip-top shape so I can carry this loving heart around for the rest of my life! I’m a happy boy who just needs some guidance and a patient hand to help me reach my full potential as a well-trained family pet. I am sweet and social with other animals. Affectionate and playful with kids plus I do know a couple basics, but let’s just say a little more training wouldn’t do me no harm. So, let’s say you come meet me right away? And don’t forget to bring the tennis ball!

On May 14th 2013 we found this sweet old beagle coming back from Bagby Hot springs on the trail exhausted and lying down crying. A man heading up to the hot springs said he would bring a message and inquire with everyone at the springs about his owner and we told him we would wait in the parking lot to see it anyone came down for him. Two hours later, some people coming back from the hot springs said that they had spoken with a couple at the hot springs and they said that the couple said they found him abandoned in a parking lot with a bag of dog food so they took him but realized that they could not care for him, so they left him in the parking lot with some water since he couldn’t walk very far. The dog apparently tried to follow them up the trail, made it about 3/4 of a mile and that’s when we saw him limping and crying and then he collapsed as soon as he saw us approaching. It was so incredibly sad to see. My Mom, Sister and I took turns carrying his heavy little body back to the parking lot, gave him some water and a little food and waited two hours so that he could rest. We took him with us back to Portland. My Mom and Sister were visiting from out of town so he is staying with me right now and my two cats. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to have dogs at my place, and am risking it until we can find him a new home, but my landlord lives just two blocks from me so I won’t be able to keep him long. This sweet boy, who we are calling Mr. Bagbys or Mr. B for short is older, maybe 9-12 years old, he listens very well, does not bark, is very comfortable around cats, and is just a sweetheart. He definitely has some health problems, he limps from old age/or old injuries, his breathing is heavy and he wheezes and snores a bit when excited, but is comfortable when he’s lying down and resting. He has a great disposition, good hearing, good sight, has a good appetite and is super loving. His cute little waggy tail and sweet brown loving eyes shows the love that he has to give and his happiness for life. He’s a very humble little guy for sure. What this little guy needs is a family that can help him which would include, lifting him down any stairs to go to the potty. He can go just fine once you put him out on the lawn and all his parts work great. He needs a good owner that will take care of him, love him, and also knows how to receive love back because he’s a big lover. I know he will not be too much trouble if someone has time for him. He’s really a happy guy. He can walk a little bit and gets around the house just fine, especially the kitchen when he’s hungry. He wants to rest a lot too. He really is a good little soul to be your best friend till the end.

Wanna play my favorite game?!?!?! It’s dog, dog, goose. You go first! Oh? You don’t know how to play? Well, you see all these other dogs here at the shelter? You go through their pictures and descriptions and tap each one and say dog. Then when you get to me you yell “GOOSE!” and you take me home and we live happily ever after! Sounds too easy huh? Well, I guess there is a little more to it than that… I will need a lot of time, attention, patience and guidance. But with all that we will grow a super special bond like you have never known! Still sound too good to be true? Let me show you how really real I can be! Dog, dog, GOOSE!

9 weeks old-10lbs. My adoption fee is $260 and includes; microchip, neuter rebate, reduced cost training class, 1 month pet health insurance, free veterinary exam, leash/collar, toy & treat packet, food sample.

Below is Stanley, he is a 7 mth old tree walker coonhound. If you google the
description of a tree walker you will find Stanley, he is exactly the way the breed
is defined. He has a drive to chase animals up trees, he loves to talk, and he is
likely going to be able to climb a tree himself one of these days.
Stanley is loving, playful, and needs a lot of exercise. He currently lives with a 5
yr old female lab mix and they play often, but he needs more focused play and
training. He hasn't lived with cats, but there are many in the neighborhood and he
is curious about them.
Stanley would do well with a family that hunts, he would also do well in a pack of
hounds. We wish he was the right fit for us, but he needs more time and attention.

Emilie is a female toy fox terrier who is turning 12 this summer. She gets along well with dogs she knows, but needs time to warm up to a new dog. She has not ever been around young children, but is fine with older children and teenagers who are gentle. She likes to bark when she hears noises outside, but settles down quickly. She is afraid of thunder and lightning storms which cause her to shiver. She sometimes likes to play with her food before she eats it, tossing it up into the air, pawing at it, and barking at it. She sleeps in my bed at night and has spent the work-week hours in the bathroom where she is paper trained. If no newspaper is available, she does usually wait to go outside. She is fixed, is updated on all her shots, and does not have any health problems, although she needs her teeth cleaned. She has a microchip. Due to a financial situation and upcoming move, I am no longer able to keep her, and I really do not want to have her put down since she has some good years still in her.

Sweet Buddha needs a new home! Buddha is an 8-9 year old pit bull terrier currently residing at Jefferson County Kennels in Madras, OR as he awaits a forever home. Buddha was adopted and, through no fault of his own, recently returned to the shelter. While in his previous adoptive home, he proved to be a giant love bug who got along with everyone he met and with dogs of all sizes. He also LOVES walks, toys, and his swimming pool. His adoptive mom loves him very much and is heartbroken that she had to give him up, but she is very ill and facing surgery with months of rehab. He remains a volunteer favorite at the shelter, but of course they would like to help him find a forever home. You can check out Buddha’s Facebook page (Wanted: A Home for Buddha the Pit Bull) or call the shelter at 541-475-6889. Please help spread the word about this deserving senior pup.

There are two things that stand out from my basic training. Walk softly and fetch a big stick. And you are the only one stopping yourself from achieving greatness. These are two principles that I carry with me through every day life. So I know that I will find a family that will love me forever, I just can’t give up hope. Hooah! I may be retired from my service duties but still train every day, always willing to learn something new….Since I have come to this shelter they have been teaching me crate cleanliness techniques, and they are right up my alley. I have also been learning to socialize with the large group of dogs so I can be Dog Park ready! I know the intricacies of entertaining children and will take on any age range. I can live in a civilian domicile that is cohabited by cats, but I will let my presence be known. I am also fully up to date on current house-training intel so carpets and floorboards are safe under my watch. Sound too good to be true? I assure you not. See for yourself. Just ask for Ranger when you come in, Hooah!

I wanna play y’all a lil diddy, and it goes something like this; Well there was a little pup that was down on his luck and just came off a California truck. With big hopeful eyes he waited for a surprise of a forever loving family to materialize. And his name, that pup, was Banjo! And his name, that pup, was Banjo! Banjo!
Thank you, thank you! It’s just something I been working on! But I really need someone to help me focus my talents on the practicalities of life! You know all that dog stuff; sit, stay, roll-over! I am not going to be a puppy forever and I really want to invest in my future! So I have a deal for you! You give me all the love, attention, training and patience that you can, and I will give you all the puppy kisses, wiggle butt, and laughs you can stand! Sounds like a pretty solid deal to me! I might even be inspired to write a few songs about our awesome new life!

12 weeks old-20lbs. My adoption fee is $260 and includes; microchip, neuter rebate, reduced cost training class, 1 month pet health insurance, free veterinary exam, leash/collar, toy & treat packet, food sample.

There are sooooo many wonderful things I want to see and do in this big wonderful world! I can barely sit still! I am just bursting with excitement and hope! Yeah, you could say I am pretty optimistic. I just don’t see any reason to focus on the negative when there is so much good to get out of it. Take this for example; a lovely little lady pup patiently waiting for a loving family to scoop her up and whisk her away to a happily ever after! Now consider that I am that little lady pup and would very much like to live happily ever after with you! I will need lots of time, love, training and patience; but I will give my all to make you happy! Plus since I have been here they already started showing me some things, like crate training, how to play nice with others- not only dogs, but kids and cats! So how about you and me start filling this half full cup up, with love!

7 months old-6lbs. My adoption fee is $220 and includes; spay, microchip, reduced cost training class, 1 month pet health insurance, free veterinary exam, leash/collar, toy & treat packet, food sample.

Gordo, he love many things! He love to eat, he loooooove people, he love biscuits, he love to play, he love cookies, and he love belly rubs after he eats! Yes, you can call Gordo a lover! Just don’t call Gordo late for dinner! Ahhhh! I kid, I kid, but really feed me on time, Gordo has a figure to maintain! Gordo would do good in a home with a cat, I’ll just ignore him…because I love people more than to waste my time with a cat. Unless he poke his fluffy face by my food, then he have another thing coming! I play with other dogs here and I like it. Gordo is being trained on how to use a crate properly and he is doing really well! I would love to be in a home with children, cuz they tend to like to give lots of treats and belly rubs. And Gordo like treat & belly rubs! So maybe you would like a little friend like Gordo to help keep you supplied with snuggles, brighten up your heart and of course help you get rid of that pesky food! Cuz Gordo, he’ll like that!
